Brad Pitt has said that he is ready to make the commitment to Angelina Jolie, in addition to the joint custody of their six children. Many advocates of marriage equality were ecstatic at Pitt and Jolie’s initial commitment to equal rights. However, the honeymoon is over. Both Pitt and Jolie can’t seem to wait it out much longer. At the pleading of their children, the call of romance and a rumored pregnancy, the two have retracted their promise not to marry.
It is unclear whether or not Pitt has proposed to Jolie, however, they have expressed their desire to get married, partly on behalf of their six children.
It was in an October 2006 article in Esquire that “Brangelina” originally said they would not marry until everyone in America can. In an interview with Parade Magazine, Pitt called this discrimination, “blatant, ugly bigotry,” a belief that had no logical grounds. While the couple continues to profess their outrage over gay marriage, for their family, they just can’t wait.
It is unclear how quickly things may move forward for the two, but it seems for now, their kids and their family have won over the couple's ever-present social activism. Pitt and Jolie have been together for seven years, have three biological children and three adopted children.

I think the couple's activist gesture has already spoken for itself and done a lot of good. It'll be many years before marriage is available to all US citizens, so it's fair enough for them to go ahead. Brad and Angelina have more than made their point, helping along the fight for equality in the process.
They have my very best wishes for a long and happy life together..
I'm glad that they are finally doing this. Brad and Angelina has given the Gay and Lesbian community their unwavering support for years. And I for one, will not be upset. This is their wish, and post importantly, the wish of their children. I wish the whole family life long happiness.
They deserve to be happy and do more than their fair share of helping people, even the gays. WA tipped tonight and others will follow. I'm sure Brangelina will continue to help where they can.
I'm am happy for them. I wish them a long happy marriage if they were to elope. The children should come first. I am pretty sure they will still be with us in support of same gender rights.
I believe that honoring their children, at this point in their lives, is the most important thing for them to do. They have stood firm in their support of many difficult situations, and I think that their need to honor their children and giving them an understanding of making choices in terms of importance shows that they are looking to raise morally and socially aware children. Give them a break. They are certainly no slackers in regard to supporting ALL human rights.
